Position Summary
The Area Manager is a strategic operations and leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations across multiple MTT Collective locations. Serving as the right-hand person to the Owner/CEO, this position manages day-to-day operational excellence, drives sales performance, leads and develops team members, and implements growth initiatives across our expanding retail footprint. This role combines hands-on retail management with strategic planning to support the scaling of MTT Collective from a boutique operation to a multi-location brand. The Area Manager will be instrumental in maintaining brand consistency, driving profitability, and creating an exceptional customer experience across all store locations. This role is part of a growing startup environment, so we are seeking someone who is eager to grow with the company and is flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of a scaling business.
Key Responsibilities/Objectives
1. Multi-Location Operations Management – Oversee daily operations across store locations, ensuring consistency in merchandising, inventory management, customer service standards, and operational procedures while adapting to the unique needs of each location.
2. Strategic Growth and Scaling – Develop and implement strategies to support business expansion, including identifying opportunities for new locations, improving operational efficiency, and implementing systems that allow for scalability without compromising brand integrity or customer experience.
3. Team Leadership and Development – Lead, mentor, and develop store teams across all locations; conduct performance reviews; implement training programs; foster a positive team culture; ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures; and build a bench of future leaders. Recruit, hire, and onboard talented team members in collaboration with store managers; conduct interviews; assess cultural fit; implement retention strategies; and ensure adequate staffing levels to support business growth and seasonal fluctuations.
4. Sales Performance and Revenue Growth – Drive sales metrics, monitor KPIs across locations, implement data-driven strategies to increase revenue, optimize staffing levels based on sales patterns, and coach store managers on achieving individual store and company-wide targets. Monitor store budgets, control expenses, analyze financial reports and sales data, prepare reports for executive leadership, make recommendations on pricing and promotions, and contribute to overall business profitability and forecasting.
5. Visual Merchandising and Product Strategy – Direct visual merchandising strategies including wall displays, floor layouts, and seasonal presentations; manage product assortment decisions; coordinate inventory flow between locations; and ensure brand-aligned presentations that drive customer engagement and sales.
6. Customer Experience and Brand Representation – Champion the MTT Collective brand promise by ensuring exceptional customer service standards, resolving customer concerns, implementing feedback systems, and serving as a brand ambassador during store visits and community engagement.
7. Inventory and Merchandising Excellence – Manage inventory levels across multiple locations, oversee receiving and merchandising processes, direct wall merchandising and product displays, coordinate seasonal transitions, and implement loss prevention measures while maintaining organized, appealing store environments.
8. Process Optimization and Documentation – Create, refine, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all store functions; document best practices; ensure consistent execution across locations; and identify opportunities to streamline operations as the business scales.
Responsibilities may evolve over time as the needs of the business change and as MTT Collective continues to grow and expand into new locations.
Required Competencies
- Experience leading teams across more than one store, managing through store managers rather than only front-line staff.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, sales drivers, KPIs, and how to coach teams to hit targets.
- Ability to merchandise walls and in-store displays, maintain brand aesthetic, and present product to drive sell-through.
- Skilled in coaching, feedback, and performance management; able to build trust and accountability.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to implement and maintain processes in a growing business.
- Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and evolving responsibilities in a scaling environment.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of retail management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role (store manager or above).
- Background in fashion, apparel, jewelry, or boutique retail.
- Proven track record of driving sales, improving KPIs, and managing budgets or labor.

Preferred Experience
- Direct multi-store or area-level responsibility (e.g., overseeing two or more locations).
- Experience helping a small or startup retail brand grow, open new locations, or implement new systems.
- Exposure to luxury, boutique, or high-touch clienteling environments.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required); Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Fashion Management, or related field (preferred but not required if equivalent experience demonstrated).

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move about store locations for extended periods during shifts (6-8+ hours per day).
- Ability to lift, carry, and move merchandise boxes, displays, and fixtures (up to 25-30 pounds regularly, with assistance available for heavier items).
