The Saturday chino is Marine Layer's most comfortable pant, and the houndstooth version is the one that can handle a dress code. The fabric takes its cue from flannel dress pants: brushed soft, with enough weight for cold weather and enough spandex to actually move with you. The flex waistband is the part you notice at hour six. Slim straight through the leg, not tight.
How the sizing works: the letter is your waist and the number is the inseam. M fits a 32 to 34 inch waist, L a 35 to 37 inch waist, XL a 38 to 40 inch waist. So M-32 is a medium waist with a 32 inch inseam.
When to wear this:
- Holiday dinners and parties that call for a real pant
- Office days with a dress code, and drinks after
- Dinners out when denim feels too casual
- Travel days that end in a meeting
- Cool-weather weekends
How to style:
- A henley or fine-gauge sweater and leather boots
- Tuck in a button-down and add a belt to dress it up
- Clean white sneakers keep the pattern from reading formal
